I have been practising as a lawyer in Whangarei since 1973 and (since 1987) under the name and style of Northlaw and Norlaw. Now I am tired and it is time to use my rude good health to do other things with my life that gladden my heart – like visiting my family in Europe. Whatever form my legal career takes on my return late next month, I won’t be available as much as I have been. I’m pleased to say that Regent Law is helping me transition to retirement by offering to act for my clients in any current or future matters.

So, Northlaw’s clients will now have the expertise, experience and enthusiasm of the team at Regent Law – not only while I am visiting my family in Europe during April and May, but also following my return.

Impressed by the energy and freshness and ambition of Isabel Blake and her team at Regent Law (and admiring the contribution of Peter Jones as one of the directors) I am confident that my clients will be well served in their dealings with Regent Law.

When I return from Europe, I will probably renew my practising certificate and see out my elected roles (until April 2021) on the NZLS Auckland branch council, the Property Law Section executive committee and the ANZCN Board of Governors, even after the sale of Northlaw building and the Northlaw Sign has come down – but not necessarily remaining in Whangarei.

I anticipate most, if not all, of my current client work in progress will be completed by me personally upon my return in May – if it has not been completed before I leave or while I am away.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries. However, I do encourage you to ask Isabel Blake of Regent Law if you require her assistance. Her contact details are:
